I guess all the Sabah BN component parties are too scare towards their big parent and have too much of their own vested interest to fight for the Sabahan rights. In other words, they put their own interest above the Sabahan. Thank you for pointing out this in your article. BRAVO.
As a matter of fact, democracy is for the elected representatives to bring forward policy changes and enactment which the people want, not what the government (or the so called elected majority) want. This should be done irrespective of the party they represent. Only the Malaysian (and in this case the Sabahan) can tolerate the abuse of power and the wrong use of democracy in such an outrageous manner that the so called BN component parties must not vote for any motion tabled by opposition even though they can benefit the citizen. Everyone know (only our CM can ask with his thick face that he said the population figures of the illegal immigrant as quoted by another assemblyman was misleading. How laughable ? Why do we need concreted figures to prove the issues as it is evidenced on the street everyday for countless years ? Maybe he mean all the MP never go to the ground but they work in their luxurious office with big projects and don't know what happen on the street. And only the power that be have the resources to find out (and perhaps manipulate)the real population figure of the illegal immigrants) the deplorable illegal immigrant issue (it has been for so long no one can remember how many donkey years it had been like this) in Sabah but no single MP has table something concrete to resolve the matter. The opposition had proposed setting up of Royal Commission in the past but it was shot down every time (I personally do not think this will resolve the issue. We need some action plan with time scale like Key Performance Index to initiate and continue follow up until full resolution). Action like building of more detention centres is only prolonging the problem and wasting more tax payer money (Sabah is already the poorest. Why do we still using fund in such irresponsible manner). And the other answer they can use is the PM had heard and is looking into the issue. I guess PM means this issue is not serious enough to warrant immediate action (and the wait of donkey years is nothing to him) and it is just amazing all Sabah BN leaders, assemblymen and MP could take that as an answer and ask the Sabahan to continue to wait. Can anyone explain why all our MP are silent for all these years on all this simple logic and yet they were still being elected back to be MP. Do Sabahan all suffer brain damage or really no one actually care for Sabah any more. Can anyone deny that the rich and powerful have and still continue to suck all the valuable resources of beautiful Sabah and be PR somewhere else (see how the depletion of Sabah forest resources and who would care how the general Sabahan live or die with the immigrant or whoever. Do we need to have an official survey and figures of the MP and assemblymen whether they are foreign PR somewhere so as to prove they care for the affair of Sabah and not just their own vested interests of only walloping the Sabah resources ?). I cannot think of other excuse (other than the official big parent directive. Which they can take it without objection because of own vested interest) since they can show such non-interest and no urgency of resolve this issue. How pathetic. It is high time the elected MP must work for the Rakyat (which they promised during election campaign) and not pretend to speak for the Rakyat in the newspaper. Please don't put up any more disgusting show of servicing the rakyat if you don't mean what you say. The Sabahan have had enough. Please remember every single citizen can speak in the newspaper but only the elected MP can go and speak in the Parliament. Since the Sabahan had elected BN to represent them in the Parliament, that means the people trust them to be able to bring forth benefit and resolution of long standing problems in Sabah. They have a moral and entrusted responsibility to do all these. No one force them to be MP. They came out to ask to be elected. So they must deliver. And no more rubbish excuses of party rules and close door discussion (which never ever resolve anything for don't know how many donkey years). And if the illegal immigrant issue in Sabah cannot be resolved, whatever development and funding to improve Sabah will be done in vain. Do you think a person with cancer can enjoy the money without being cured of the cancer first ?

Recently the chairman of Sabah chinese chamber of commerce said in the newspaper that he would collate all opinions and outstanding issues of the Sabahan especially the chinese sector and reflect to the PM when he visit again in end of May 2008. He said he would do this because the BN MP were restricted by the big parent directive on raising issues.
I remember this mr. chairman had arranged a big gathering just before 308 election which was attended by PM and BN entourage to voice his support of the BN government and asked the chinese sector to follow suit.
This inevitably raise some questions :
1) Did he mean he only know after the 308 election that the BN MP are restricted by the big parent directive ? So he didn't know that they were and will still be restricted as such. Why was he wanted to ask the Sabahan to support BN MP who can't fight for their right at the first place ? That mean the Sabahan had voted for bunch of powerless MP who can't speak for them and fight for their right and benefit ? Why is there a need to exercise election then ?
2) Again the Sabahan and in this case the chinese community had elected a person to be a head of an association/society who seems to speak without thinking (or he only speak for his vested interest). Why is he still being in a position who speak non sense and no one care to oust him from continuing the non sense of representing the voice of the community ?
3) why is the Sabahan keep choosing/electing leader, assemblymen, MP who are totally non sense and cannot service their need and right ? Where have all the good leaders gone ? Can the Sabahan think carefully and logically before they choose who should represent them, lead them and protect them of their right and needs ?
4) Isn't it critical now the Sabahan are educated properly to select and choose proper leaders ? Please...No more non sense leader who speak rubbish and MP who can't speak because of non sense directive.

Friend, well said. I really hope these MP/YB, Mr. Chamber Chairman will see what you have just said. I felt ashame of what they did and exactly what they shouldn't have done.

History should record all their words and hilarious deeds faithfully.

You have said it well and said it all--

"They have a moral and entrusted responsibility to do all these. No one force them to be MP. They came out to ask to be elected. So they must deliver. And no more rubbish excuses of party rules and close door discussion"

There is only one long term solution to this ongoing problem:

a) To ensure only qualified leaders (those are capable and with high moral standard) are being elected and retained in the political system

b) To ensure non qualified politicians (those are not capable or with low moral standard) are not being elected, get punished or phased out from the political system.

To achieve (a) and (b), majority of Sabahan need to:

1) have strong interest to promote the long term well-being of Sabah, then
2) have the ability to judge what/ who will/could promote/destroy the long term well-being of Sabah, then
3) have the needed/correct information to exercise those judgement, then
4) have an effective legal environment/system which enable them to transform those judgement into action that lead to (a) and (b)

It all boiled down to (a) Solid legal framework (b) Strong social awareness (c) Free press (d) Good public education

All complicated problem always have a few simple solutions. It is the implementation process that is long, dynamic and complicated.
